Live Fish Initiative
Food sovereignty & protection of the Yaokwa
ritual (UNESCO World Heritage)
A community-led aquaculture initiative with the Enawenê Nawê people in Brazil, restoring food sovereignty, cultural continuity, and ecological resilience. By combining traditional knowledge with sustainable fish-farming systems, the project reduces dependency on external food sources caused by disrupted river ecosystems and strengthens Indigenous autonomy, livelihoods, and intergenerational knowledge transfer.
Objectives (Phase 1: Feasibility Study):

Assess the feasibility of a community-led, sustainable fish-farming system within the Enawenê Nawê territory

Identify suitable locations through aquaculture and georeferencing studies, aligned with Indigenous knowledge

Provide a solid foundation for pilot implementation and food sovereignty

NHAHÃ – Fruit of the Forest
Strengthening forest-based livelihoods through Indigenous-led value chains
A community-led initiative with the Tenharin Sepoti people in the Brazilian Amazon, strengthening sustainable forest livelihoods through the Brazil nut value chain. Grounded in traditional management and Indigenous territorial governance, the project enhances food security, income generation, and forest protection while reducing dependency on intermediaries and safeguarding cultural and ecological resilience.
Objectives (Phase 1: Feasibility Study)

Conduct Free, Prior and Informed Consultation (FPIC) and secure community consent

Map forest resources and Brazil nut groves through georeferencing and field assessments

Assess production capacity, infrastructure needs, and market potential

Indigenous Women
Empowerment
Women leadership for nature conservation & livelihood

The women's association Aibu Dayá ("the work of women" in Hatxa kuin) is the first Indigenous organization run by women in the region of Jordão, Acre.
-
Central aspects are education, equal rights, nature conservation, women's rights, medical care as well as general basic care. The association consists of women who work to improve the living conditions of their community.
Objectives

Trainings and workshops to help Huni Kuin women understand their rights & realise their full potential.

Conservation work to create a sustainable future for the Huni Kuin community.

School and university scholarships for Huni Kuin women

Basic income for Huni Kuin women who have to leave their village for domestic violence.

for our soils
